How to Use This Guide
This guide is designed to help you find your best fit in Florimay clothing and shoes the first time around. Start by taking your measurements with a soft tape measure (instructions below), then compare them to our size charts. If you fall between sizes, use our decision framework later on this page to choose the right one for the style you're shopping.
Keep in mind that different silhouettes fit differently. A relaxed linen shirt and a fitted knit dress may call for different size choices even if they're both labeled the same. Each product page includes specific fit notes, so read those alongside this general guide before ordering.
How to Measure Yourself
You'll need a soft measuring tape, a mirror, and well-fitting undergarments. Stand relaxed with your feet together and keep the tape snug but not tight. Measure over bare skin or a thin layer, not over bulky clothing.
- Bust: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your bust, keeping it level across your back. Breathe normally and don't pull tight.
- Waist: Find your natural waistline, which is the narrowest part of your torso, usually about an inch above your belly button. Measure there, keeping the tape parallel to the floor.
- Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat, about 7 to 9 inches below your natural waist. Keep your feet together.
- Inseam: Measure from the inside top of your thigh (crotch seam) straight down to the bottom of your ankle. It's easiest to do this while wearing pants that fit you well and measuring the pant seam itself.

To measure your foot length, stand on a piece of paper with your heel against a wall and mark the tip of your longest toe. Measure from the wall to the mark. If one foot is larger, use that measurement.
Fit Philosophy at Florimay
Florimay garments generally run true to size based on the chart above. We design to real body measurements rather than vanity sizing, so if your measurements fall cleanly into a size, order that size.
- Size up if you prefer a looser fit, if you're between sizes on a woven (non-stretch) piece, or if your bust is a full cup size larger than your frame.
- Size down if you prefer a closer fit on knits and jersey, or if you're between sizes on items described as oversized or relaxed.
- Stretch notes: Styles with 3% or more elastane will give about half a size of comfortable stretch. Pure linen, cotton poplin, and silk have no meaningful stretch, so measure carefully. Heavy knits may relax slightly with wear.
Between Sizes? A Simple Framework
If your measurements land between two sizes, work through these questions in order:
- Which measurement matters most for this garment? For tops and dresses, prioritize bust. For pants and skirts, prioritize hip. For fitted waist styles, prioritize waist.
- Does the fabric stretch? If yes, size down. If no, size up.
- What's the intended fit? For fitted or tailored styles, go with the larger size for comfort. For relaxed or oversized styles, go with the smaller size to avoid swimming in it.
- Will it be layered? If you'll wear it over other pieces, size up.
